This sculpture is a ten-foot tall creature inspired by the question: is a phoenix merely a human creation or has it taken on a life of its own apart from its creator? Because a phoenix is an
uncertain mix of many animal forms depending on its cultural origin and is depicted in an array of mediums, I examined this dilemma by drawing from many contrasting sourcesâart history, live
