Dreamy phantasmagorias where do they come from? Hallucinations, a few trifling remnants, products of wandering thought without end or direction. Dreams still belong to this part of our lives that is not being influenced or controlled by anyone but us. They are the source of
our deepest desires and creativity without boundaries and rules. The bizarre characters popping out out of nowhere, sometimes
completely hypermnesic and clear, sometimes just vague faceless illusions that become abstract and fall to pieces the very next moment. These protagonists were inspired by the dream scene from the Alfred Hitchcocks film Spellbound, that was designed by Salvador Dali himself. They possess some kind of quirkiness, something unusual but also seem familiar in some ways. In our
waking life where everything has become exchangeable - from products through fashion to ideas - and can be copied, multiplied and recycled within seconds, they evoke something contemplative and poetic. They appear to possess a kind of artificiality like Sugimotos wax sculptures or surreal objects that seem to pop up in the wrong place and in the time. Placed against a black background that is partially fading away, they get a sort of a stage where they present themselves as hallucinogenic paintings -physical but intangible at the same time, surrounded by the ephemeral flowers, resisting being pigeon-holed in any way.
