Dimensions: 366 x 366 x 275cm. Treehouse is a life-size porcelain replica that uses an iconic image of childhood as a way to explore the nature of nostalgia and the in/authenticity of memory. The act of casting is a symbolic gesture, it freezes a moment in time, recording and preserving forms and events that are impossible to re-live. This work implicates the viewer, reflecting back the personal histories, desires and anxieties brought to it.

Jeremy HATCH is a Canadian artist who constructs large-scale cast porcelain sculpture. He has received several research/production/travel grants and attended residencies at the Takumi Studios in Japan, the European Ceramic Work Centre in the Netherlands, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and the Archie Bray Foundation, where he was the recipient of the 2007-2008 Taunt Fellowship. Jeremy has taught courses at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Emily Carr University, Rhode Island School of Design and is currently teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
